Joseph DiRocco, MD, MBA

Dr. DiRocco, his wife Nancy, and their two daughters are in relocating to the Greater Baltimore area from New York City. Originally from New Jersey, Dr. DiRocco graduated Magna Cum Laude with College and Departmental Honors from The College of the Holy Cross. He then attended the Albert Einstein College of Medicine where he obtained his medical degree. He then went to Upstate Medical University in Syracuse, NY for residency in surgery. During his time in Syracuse, he spent time as a Resident Research Fellow in the Cardiopulmonary / Critical Care laboratory and was an Adjunct Instructor for the School of Cardiopulmonary Perfusion. He worked as a consultant for medical device development during this time. He obtained a Master’s in Business Administration from Whitman School of Management during residency.
He has 18 original publications including 2 book chapters and 3 review articles. He has received 4 research awards and one patent. Has received teaching awards from medical students and from junior residents and received an award for laparoscopic technique. He has most recently completed a Fellowship in Colon & Rectal Surgery at New York Presbyterian and Memorial Sloan-Kettering Cancer Center and is happy to join Dr. Francesco Grasso at the Greater Baltimore Colorectal Specialists.
He has a strong training and interest in minimally invasive techniques for the treatment of inflammatory bowel disease and colorectal cancer. He also has a particular interest and specific training in sphincter-sparing surgery for rectal cancer.
Dr. DiRocco will be available to see patients at our office locations starting August 1, 2010
